CAMPAIGNING

Greater Manchester Hazards Centre is part of a national network called the Hazards Campaign set up in 1988, drawing together hazards Centres, Occupational Health Projects, health and safety groups and Trades Unions Safety Committees, Trade Unions, specific campaigns, victims support groups and safety activists. Specific campaign groups include the Construction Safety Campaign, bereaved relatives groups, asbestos victims and RSI support groups, pesticide sufferers groups, campaigns against hazards affecting black and ethnic minority workers, homeworkers and toxic waste groups.

The Hazards Campaign works by sharing information and skills, campaigning on specific issues, acting as a national voice, issuing press releases, holding conferences and meetings, establishing national initiatives, including Workers Memorial Day (link with events page); lobbying MPs, MEPS, the government and statutory bodies like the HSC and HSE. The Campaign organises the annual Hazards Conference and holds meetings about five times a year, open to anyone sharing the aims of the campaign which are published in the Hazards Charter which are our demands on the Government.
